Prof. Chen specialises in Maths and Operations Research with
over thirty years of experience in lecturing and research
supervision at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His
research interests are in Lattice Theory, Graph Theory and
Combinatorics.
Prior to joining IDSC in the Board of Directors, he was Director
of IT/Education Program at the Logistics Institute Asia Pacific
in NUS.
Prof. Chen headed the division of Combinatorics & Operational
Research in the Department of Mathematics, NUS from 1993 to
1996. He was a member of the Singapore International
Mathematical Olympiad Committee from 1986 to 2000, and was
chairman of the committee from 1986 to 1991. He was the Chairman
of the NUS Faculty Club Management committee in 1997 and
Vice-Chairman of the club and Chairman of its Sports
Subcommittee from 1993 to 1995. He was Vice President of the
Singapore Mathematical Society from 1988 to 1990.
He was an editor for Discrete Mathematics, A Special Issue on
Chromatic Polynomials and Related Topics (1995/96). His most
recent publication together with T T Tjhung, Y H Chew and Erji
Wang was on Multiple Delay Capture Probabilities and Performance
of DS-CDMA Slotted ALOHA Packet Radio System in the Research
Report of Institute for Infocomm Research Agency for Science in
2003.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree at Nanyang University in
Singapore and a Masters of Science and Ph.D. at Queens
University in Canada.
He is an ardent golf and tennis enthusiast and is fluent in
English and Mandarin.
